Prosecutors have delivered 381 search warrants on Facebook resulting in a lawsuit to challenge the warrants.
However, a state appeals court in New York has ruled that Facebook can't challenge the search warrants that prosecutors in Manhattan issued to get information on the social media giant's customers.
The prosecutors are seeking the user profile data as part of an investigation into social security fraud. Facebook filed a lawsuit to protect the user data saying that it violated the constitutional right of the 381 users.
Facebook argued that it should be able to object to searches if they consider them illegal, considering it has to search through files for prosecutors.
The appeals court ruled otherwise which is raising concerns among privacy advocates that user privacy will be compromised.
