A Manatee county, FL., man was arrested for impersonating a police officer; Jonathan Charles Stevens, 24, attempted to pull over a real Tampa police officer in order to report "a reckless driver," he was also in possession of a Glock .45-caliber handgun.
According to the Tampa Tribune, Stevens was in his 2009 Tahoe, which was equipped with red and blue lights, and tried to pull over a Tampa officer around 10:30 p.m. Sunday near the corner of Seventh Avenue and 17th Street in Ybor City, police said.
He told the officer he wanted to report a reckless driver and said he was a Department of Homeland Security officer. Stevens said he had a Glock .45-caliber handgun and wore a badge around his neck.
Just before turning on his lights, he called police dispatch to report the same reckless driver, police said.
After running the Tahoe's registration, the Tampa officer learned that the vehicle was not registered to any government agency. This prompted Stevens to admit he was not law enforcement and he did not have a concealed weapon permit.
Stevens was charged with impersonating a police officer, unlawful use of blue lights and carrying a concealed firearm.
