Father of the year he is not; Marcus Crossland was captured on video kicking his 6 year old son off a halfpipe in Jacksonville, FL. in what initially appears to be a nice father and son training session at the park.
When Kona Skate Park management became aware of the incident, they called both police and child services. The Department of Children and Families has confirmed their intention to speak with both the father and child.
Martin Ramos, Kona's operator, was quoted by First Coast News as saying; "unfortunately parents get so enthusiastic about their kids and their abilities in skateboarding, or baseball, or football or whatever and sometimes they take it a little too far."
Ryan Stephens, the 13 year old that shot the video confronted Crossland about the incident, "I was like 'pushing him down is not teaching him how to drop in'. And then he said 'do you think you can raise him better than me?' and I said yes."
The skate park's operator, Martin Ramos, said he had asked Mr. Crossland not to return to the park for a while.
Kudos to Stephens for sticking up for the 6 year old.
