Good news!! Firefox web browser, version 26, now by default blocks Java software on all websites unless the user authorizes the Java plugin to run.
It had originally been planned to be a part of the browser with version 24, but the Mozilla Foundation delayed the change after dismayed users raised a stink.
A dialog box asking for authorization before allowing the plugin to launch will pop up whenever a Java applet or a Java Web Start launcher is encountered. "Allow and Remember" will also be available if the user wants to whitelist the current page.
Firefox 26 includes a number of security patches, bug fixes, and minor new features.
