After 34 years on the lam, Willie Austin was found in soaking up the rays in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida.
Austin, 60, escaped from the Central State Correctional Institute in Macon, Georgia, Dec. 27, 1981, and apparently wanted to spend his retirement from the armed robbery profession in the warmth of sunny Florida.
US Marshals learned that Austin had been living in South Florida under an assumed name. According to ABC News, Austin had remained a fugitive for 34 years until Marshals happened to look at the driver's license of a man using the last name "Jackson" and noticed that the man in the photograph bore a resemblance to Austin.
He was arrested without incident and booked into the Broward County Jail.
