I knew if I looked hard enough I would find a Florida shopping mishap - An off-duty Florida Highway Patrol officer that happened to be working in the area of the Waterford Lakes Best Buy was notified that there was an unattended baby sleeping in a vehicle.
According to First Coast News, the troopers made announcements to shoppers about the vehicle, and after 10 minutes, no one came forward.
A trooper broke the glass to get the infant out. The infant appeared lethargic, and paramedics were called, FHP said.
Eventually Haider Hassan Khudhair Darwash, 34, returned to the vehicle and told troopers that he was the father of the child. He explained that he thought his wife had the child; the child's mother was found at a different business waiting in the checking out line.
Darwash was arrested and charged with felony child neglect.
