A 75 year old man from Alachua County, FL, attempted to gain access to a garbage truck because he thought his imaginary girlfriend was being held inside.
Walter Welch first attempted to enter the truck by standing in front waving a knife and then tried to gain access to the cab, but the driver ignored the man's threats and continued on his route. His second attempt involved spraying pepper spray into an air intake on the vehicle.
At this point, according to the police report obtained by the Gainesville Sun, the driver summoned the Alachua County Sheriff's Office, and deputies went to Welch's home. There they found what they believed was crack cocaine sitting on a coffee table, along with a bottle that had been modified to smoke the drug, the report states.
Welch was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, property damage, burglary, possession of cocaine and possession of drug equipment.
