Deputies in Collier County Florida say a homeless man tried to claim a home using the 'adverse possession' law, however the house he chose was not vacant.
ABC-7 reports that the man broke into the home where an 11-year-old boy was by himself and proceeded to make some coffee, have a beer and even answer the family phone.
Deputies say 66-year-old Earl Newbry - who they described as a delusional homeless man - broke into the house and claimed the property belonged to him. Newbry made himself at home by making some coffee, drinking a beer and lighting up a cigarette.
Then it gets even weirder. When the boy's father called the house, Newbry answered the phone. "He called to see what his son wanted at Burger King and the guy answered the phone," said neighbor Lynn Greenling.
Deputies say Newbry told the father it was his home and he was going to "hug" his son.
Newbry faces charges of burglary on an occupied dwelling along with assault and theft, and is being held at the Naples Jail Center.
