Kirk Kelly, a fugitive from Tampa, FL was arrested in Ohio after a vehicle he was traveling in was pulled over for the driver's suspended license. The arresting officers noted that the car smelled of drugs and proceeded to remove the occupants. While this isn't physically in the state of F-L-A the suspect took all his sunshine state know-how with him.....
Kelly initially lied about his identity attempting to use his younger brothers info. The fugitive was being sought by Tampa police for at least six months on a probation violation stemming from his felony conviction for selling drugs and guns.
Apparently when the police in Ohio became frustrated with his obvious lies about his identity so they requested a portable fingerprint scanner be sent to the scene, Kelly must have overheard them and in a totally idiotic attempt to beat the impending scan started to gnaw off his fingertips. Which of course ended up with the additional tampering with evidence charge against him. Kelly must have forgotten about all his Tampa related tattoos including '813' and a Rays logo - Tampa PD did not and promptly sent a photo array of this bumbling gun runner's ink - cops were able to finger him from the tattoos.
Officers did find some marijuana in the car as well.
Kelly will be extradited back to Hillsborough county at some point in the near future.
