The 86-year-old victim was shopping at the Hospice Thrift Store when the suspect in the video wearing a red hat and white shirt approached her and told her she shouldn’t leave her purse hanging from her walker because someone could steal it.
A few seconds later, the suspect bends down and takes the woman’s wallet from her purse. He quickly walks away and hands the wallet to the woman seen in the video wearing pink. An hour later, the woman in pink used the victim’s credit card at the McDonald’s at Dale Mabry and El Prado.
Anyone with information about the case is urged to call Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay, Inc. at 1 800 873-tips or text a tip to CSTB plus your tip to 274637. If your anonymous tip leads to an arrest, you are eligible to receive up to $1,000 in a cash reward.
As someone who had his credit card skimmed while using it at a gas station last year, I hope someone can identify them. Because of insurance and a quick response from Visa, my money was returned and the company and police don't bother chasing these people down even though I know there was video cameras at a couple places they went to.
