An 18 year old Florida man was arrested on attempted murder charges after he attacked his neighbor for attempting to intervene as the teen beat a dog; the neighbor went outside his home in St. Petersburg after hearing a commotion on the street, there he found Brandon Davis, 18, beating a dog and "yelling about Jesus Christ and the devil."
According to the Tampa Bay Times, Nicholas Sorace, 54, who lives in the 7900 block of 12th Avenue S, in the Yacht Club Estates waterfront neighborhood told police he went outside after hearing a noise early Sunday and saw Davis beating a dog.
Davis noticed him and gave chase, officials said.
Sorace ran back inside his home and locked his door, police said.
Davis kicked it down.
The teen began beating Sorace, police said. Davis bit the older man's face and hands, authorities said, and tried to gouge his eyes out. A woman who also lives at the home ran out a back door to get help.

When police finally arrived it took four officers to subdue the crazed teen. His family believes that he was under the influence of either synthetic marijuana, bath salts or some other type of hallucinogens when the attack occurred.
Davis was taken the hospital for observation and then will be booked on attempted murder, burglary, assault and resisting a law enforcement officer with violence.
