A woman in DeLand, FL., had hankering for some shell fish, so in typical Florida fashion the woman stuffed 7 of the critters in her britches and she was off. At this point it is important to note that Nicole Reed, 30, was at least smart enough to make sure that they were only lobster tails and not the live variety - only a half point for Darwin.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, a store security guard told police he spotted a woman stuffing the tails into the front area of her pants. Then she left the store without paying.
A DeLand police officer got a description of the woman and was told she was heading to McGregor Road.
The security guard was taken to where police were now holding the lobster-laden vixen for identification purposes - I believe that the 7 lobster tail bulge in her pants might have been enough, but then again it is Florida.
"Reed stated she entered the store with the intent to steal food,'' according to a police report. "Reed told me she was going to trade the lobster tails to a friend and possibly buy Chinese buffet" or painkillers. My money is on the Chinese buffet.
Reed was arrested and charged with theft from a merchant and remains at the Volusia County Branch Jail.
