Fred's Super Store Breached; Credit Card Data Stolen

Another breach comes to light with the announcement that Fred's Super Dollar stores were hacked.
An unauthorized person gained access to two servers that payment card data is routed through after cards are swiped at Fred's Super Dollar store. The hacker also placed a program on the server capable of making a copy of the payment card data.
It is unknown how many customers were affected, but the extent of the data included track 2 card data, including card numbers, expiration dates and verification codes.
The breach has been contained and Fred's is working with law enforcement. Fred's is also working with payment card companies, and is implementing enhanced security measures.
According to the disclosure, the hack was place on the servers on March 23rd. One program stopped working on April 8th while the other server was stopped on April 24th.
Stores were affected in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.
Fred's said: “Transactions for half of our stores are routed through one server and the other half of our stores are routed through the second server.”
