Futuremark Peacekeeper reveals the winners and losers in the browser wars

For the last couple of months Futuremark has been beta testing a new version of Peacekeeper, their popular browser speed test. Today the beta tag comes off and we are happy to invite the readers of Majorgeeks to give the latest version a try.

Peacekeeper now offers the ability to test any browser on any operating system on any Internet capable device, which means as well as comparing browsers on desktop PCs and notebooks, Peacekeeper can also be used to compare performance between devices such as smart-phones and tablets.

No surprise to any Majorgeek that Chrome was the fastest browser on the market followed closely by Opera and the 8.0.1 version of Firefox coming in at almost half their speed. Internet Explorer made an appearance as well but at half the speed of Firefox so you do that math. Cell phones are also included but we all already know they are still horribly slow at web browsing.

Check out the entire test at http://peacekeeper.futuremark.com/results?key=4Stn and test your own browser as well.
