The PC market, according to a new report from Gartner, is set to experience a mini-revival this year. In 2013, it saw a 9.5 percent decline, which accounted for desktops, notebooks, and "premium ultramobiles" like Apple's MacBook Air.
Gartner Research Director Ranjit Atwal said: "2014 will be marked by a relative revival of the global PC market. Business upgrades from Windows XP and the general business replacement cycle will lessen the downward trend, especially in Western Europe. This year, we anticipate nearly 60 million professional PC replacements in mature markets."
Smartphone sales will continue to see a big boost. Gartner predicted that smartphone sales will represent 88 percent of global mobile phone sales by 2018, up from 66 percent in 2014.
