It's a slow news Saturday and found myself randomly surfing Amazon and this little beauty came up in my feed. So I had to share.
They call it Web Launcher String Shooters Toy likely to avoid the throngs of trademark lawyers at Disney, but it's a Spider-Man Web Shooter for Role/Cosplay.
The device straps to your wrist and has a palm trigger just like Spidey. The trigger activates a high capacity spring launching a string up to 9.6 feet. (2.2 meters for our non-USA readers.) The string can have either suction or a magnetic end depending on what you are shooting at. The shooter then can engage an electric motor to automatically retract the string.
Granted, I wouldn't be going around swinging from buildings or trying to take on Doc Oct with this thing - but there are hours of office joy here.
The video shows that the motor is strong enough to lift a soda can, so add-ons seem more than possible. Like attaching a cat toy for those moments when fluffy won't fetch. Or, for you 3D Print enthusiasts, maybe printing up a grappling hook add-on is a strong choice for added entertainment.
Here's the link if you want to check it out. Full disclosure, MajorGeeks is an Amazon Affiliate, so if you were to purchase one, we'd get a small commission. (very small) They cost $42.99 per and come in either black or blue. If you get one, remember Uncle Ben's words, "With great power comes great responsibility.", so shoot responsibly.
Excelsior!
