Reports are breaking that Mr. Zimmerman was involved in a domestic altercation that involved a gun. The reports are very sketchy at this point but it looks like it involves soon to be ex-wife Shellie Zimmerman.
According to the report from the Orlando Sentinel, police are investigating a "possible domestic battery" involving Zimmerman on Sprucewood Road, Lake Mary police Officer Zach Hudson said this afternoon.
Hudson said the investigation is in its early stages, and it was unclear whether Zimmerman or anyone would be arrested. No significant injuries were suffered in the incident, Hudson said.
Hudson said Shellie Zimmerman had called for help. He described what happened as a domestic dispute, and said another complainant was Shellie's father, David Dean.
Hudson said a weapon was present in the house during the incident but said he wasn't sure whether anyone had brandished it.
In her divorce petition filed last week Shellie Zimmerman wrote that the couple had separated Aug. 13.
Shellie Zimmerman's attorney told the Sentinel this afternoon he was heading to the scene.
