This will certainly prove to be a very useful bit of technology when it's finally released; the Google Gesture app uses wristbands to decipher specific movements made by the wearer and transmits them to a smartphone app which in turn translates them into spoken speech.
Google Gesture is a service that translates sign language into speech. It analyzes the muscle activity and position of the hand and forearm using electromyography and translates it in a smartphone application into speech – real time.
The app was developed by students at the Berghs School of Communication in Sweden as was to give a voice to persons using sign language, thus enabling them to have conversations with people that are not able to sign. The group has already won an award from the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.
As of now the project is still in development and no release date has been provided.
