Google Sold for $12.00

Sammy Ved, who attends Babson College, managed to find and buy the Google.com domain name for $12.

While taking a look at the Google Domains interface, he inadvertently discovered Google.com was up for sale.

Ved wrote in his blog: “I clicked the add to cart icon beside the domain (which should not appear if the domain is not available for sale). The domain actually got added to my cart as seen by the green check-box, and the domain appeared in my cart.”

Google caught on quickly and canceled the transaction.

Ved was offered a reward via Google Security Rewards Programs, which gives cash to people who find vulnerabilities in Google products.

Ved decided to donate the reward to charity and the company doubled the reward.

"I still love the company, and what it does and stand for," Ved, who worked as an account strategist for Google from 2007 to 2012, told HuffPost via a LinkedIn message. "It was very kind of them to offer double the reward since it was going to charity."
