Google Translate gets smarter

Posted by: Timothy Weaver on 01/14/2015 10:25 AM [ comments Comments ]

Google has added some new features to their Google Translate app which will come in handy if you plan on travelling to a foreign city any time soon.

Among other new features, Google Translate will now let you snap a picture of written words and get a translation. While using the Translate app, simply point your camera at a sign or text and you'll see a translated version overlaid on your screen.

Additionally, Google Translate will also now be speedier with translations. Google tweaked the app's real-time conversation feature to make the dialogue flow faster and more naturally. Simply tap the mic and start speaking; then the app will automatically recognize which language is being spoken, so you can have a more fluid conversation.

These new features are available on iOS and Android. Head over to the App Store or Google Play to download the latest version of Google Translate.
