James Ejankowski, 24, an online fraudster, swindled the Clydesdale Yorkshire Bank out of nearly £100,000 after finding a flaw in the banks portal.
Last December, Ejankowski found a way to transfer money from current and savings accounts without the bank becoming aware of it. He just had to do the dirty work between the hours of midnight and 1am.
For reasons unknown, Ejankowski transferred over £53,000 to his partner’s account as well as over £1300 to his father-in-law. He used the rest of the money to pay off debts, give gifts to family members and buy a Range Rover and a BMW and get some facial tattoos.
When he turned himself over to the police, he only had £40 left.
Ejankowski pleaded guilty to fraud and received a 16 month prison term. His partner, Charlotte Slater received a six months suspended sentence.
This was not the first time Ejankowski appeared in court. In 2015 he was tried for fraud when he was convicted of selling items on the internet.
The bank has since fixed the flaw.
