Hackers that are wielding ransomware are still targeting hospitals. This week hospitals in Kentucky and Southern California were breached with malware.
Henderson, Ky.-based Methodist Hospital had to declare an "Internal State of Emergency" due to a Locky ransomware attack launched on Friday, Mar. 18. The hospital suffered a loss of web-based services and electronic communications for five days. The hospital confirmed that it managed to regain control of its systems without paying the cybercriminals who requested a ransom of four bitcoins.
