Happy 20th Birthday Opera

20 years ago today in Norway two computer engineers, Jon and Geir started to develop browsing software as a project for Telenor. Before long, they founded their own company, Opera Software, and continued working on the browser, which would soon be called Opera.


Some interesting facts:

In 1995 Opera Software was founded

Opera web browser version 2.1 for Windows, was released in 1997 and was the first publicly available version

In August 2005, the Opera Mini web browser was born

In 2010 Lars Boilesen assumed the role as Chief Executive Officer at Opera

In 2010 the company exceeded 100 million USD in revenues

In 2010 Opera Software announced its first acquisition, AdMarvel, Inc.

In 2014 Opera acquired AdColony

In 2015 Opera reached 300 million mobile users
