Hidden App tracks stolen laptop to Iran

Recently a man named Dom Deltorto from the UK had his MacBook Pro stolen. Lucky for Dom he had previously installed Hidden App on his computer which allows you to track the stolen device, and also use the camera to snap pictures as shown below.

So what happens is, like in this case you realize that your computer has been stolen; you log into your account and you are able to retrieve the ip address of your lost beauty providing that it is being used on the internet. The app also allows you take screenshots of whatever the new 'owner' is doing.

In the case of Mr. Delorto there were no hits for about a month, and then he got a hit......the computer was being used in of all places, Tehran, Iran. He was able to get a picture of whom he believed was the thief as well. Police in the UK were unable to do anything further so Delorto created a Tumblr blog as an amusing story for his friends to enjoy.

After seeing their cyber-mugshot on Tumblr the new owner of the computer contacted Mr. Delorto and apparently claimed that they were also a victim in some way. Delorto describes this in his blog that "the innocent new owners of my laptop have been in touch and are mortified about the story and are keen to return the laptop."

"Given the huge error of judgement on my part in sharing the story and failing to respect their privacy I have asked them to keep it by means of an apology."
