Hide Files in Images, PDFs with FileStegano

FileStegano is a very small, portable app to encrypt your personal files using a secret passphrase and then hide it inside a PDF or image file.

To hide a file, you choose the PDF, BMP. JPG or PNG on the left and the file to hide on the right. Choose your passphrase and click the HIDE button. To recover select the file, enter your passphrase and click RECOVER. You will be given a directory to recover to.



We don't know how well it works as far as someone cracking it, but most people won't know how to anyway. The author created it as part of his thesis to complete his undergraduate degree, and we were more than glad to test it out and make it available to everyone.

FileStegano works great for anyone without an undergraduate degree in software engineering (see what I did there?) looking to hide a few files easily. It's free and one of the smallest we've seen at under 60KB.
