The headline is not one that you would expect to read. Customs agents in Germany intercepted around 14 ounces of cocaine stuffed into condoms that were destined for the Vatican.
The find was made at Leipzig airport, Germany, and according to Metro UK, officials are unsure who the 340g (12oz) of cocaine was meant for as the packages were addressed to the Vatican postal office.
This meant they could be picked up by any one of 800 residents.
Weekly Bild am Sonntag reported that a subsequent sting operation arranged with Vatican police failed to nab the intended recipient. No one claimed the package, indicating that he or she was tipped off about the plan. The drugs would have a street value of several tens of thousands of euros.
Vatican spokesman the Rev. Federico Lombardi confirmed that the Vatican police had cooperated with German police in an attempt to identify the traffickers. He said the investigation remained open.
