Did you use a debit or credit card at a self- checkout kiosk at Home Depot between April 1 and Sept. 18, 2014 or received a notification that your email address was compromised?
If so, you need to know that Home Depot is settling a class action lawsuit to the tune of $50 million. It is estimated that there were 50 million customers involved in the suit.
Free credit card monitoring and cash payments are on the table for those affected by the breach.
Several suits were initiated after the breach that claim that Home Depot was negligent in securing its payment card system or notifying customers in a timely manner.
Home Depot decided to settle the suit rather than face the uncertainty of a court action.
If you were affected, claims must be submitted by Oct. 29, 2016.
