How many actually read the license agreement

Did you really read the license agreement? Although many say they did, the statistics may indicate otherwise.

A case in point: a Chrome extension, the “Webpage Screenshot” extension, which allowed viewers to capture screen shots of web pages, was downloaded 1.2 million times. The problem is that the vendor seemed to get revenues by uploading user behavior, mainly visited web links, and monetizing on that data. The extension’s privacy policy did mention it.

Some people were upset and felt that they had been spied on. However, their approval of the license agreement gave their permission.

The privacy policy came as a web link. That allows the statistics to be checked. The link was accessed 146 times. This means that only 0.012 % clicked the link!

Did you read the agreement?
