How To Build an 8x8x8 LED Cube 3D Display

This is a really cool project that has been around for a few years, but with winter in full swing, its about time we post some cool projects for when you are snowed in.

The LED Cube is ridiculously cool, mostly pointless, and completely awesome. Its not too hard to build if you have about $67 and a bunch of free time. This instructional is definitely the best we could find on the interweb - it includes a full price list, parts list, code, and great pictures and detail.

If you want to start your first “amateur/novice” kind of microcontroller project, this is for you. Just make sure you are good at soldering (there is a lot of it, that is what takes up the bulk of your time).

See it here on Instructables.
