How to reboot an iPhone when the power button isn't working

Having beaten my poor iPhone to death and a month to go until I can get a new phone, I ran into a problem. In order to reset your iPhone, you need to press and hold the power button down to reboot the phone. My power button has not worked in month, most likely due to a drop where that corner was affected. So now what?
We found a workaround. Resetting your network settings will cause the phone to shut down and restart by itself. The only downside is you lose any saved network settings, for example routers you log in to. Once the phone restarts, everything else is fine. Here’s what you want to do:
Go to
- Settings
- General
- Reset (at bottom)
- Reset Network Settings
You will be warned that this will delete all networking settings, select the red “reset Network Settings” and wait a couple of minutes.
While it might not be optimal, if you were in the same spot I was, it was a life saver. I would show you a screen shot, but I need the power button for that as well
