A civilian Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request has resulted in the release of personal information of 1,000 employees.
The Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) is notifying more than 1,000 employees that names, ranks, salaries, job duties, and Social Security numbers were part of the release.
IDOC investigated the incident, and is reviewing its internal policies and procedures to ensure a similar incident does not occur in the future. Employees are being contacted.
At this point, it appears that the data is not being used for malicious purposes.
Employees with Dixon Correctional Center and Lawrence Correctional Center were among those affected by the incident.
