Internet Explorer 9: Time to Change?

anon_private asked on our forums about using older versions of Internet Explorer and whether or not should update to the latest especially having an issue uploading an avatar recently.

The short answer is yes. Because security and technology changes so frequently eventually your browser is no longer updated (obsolete) and can’t take advantage of these new technologies and security.

Like anything else, leaving something out of date (drivers, software) usually can lead to more problems. Another consideration and I get it, is you get used to the browser you have and over a few years, it is now totally different. If you keep up to date, those changes usually appear gradually and make it easier to adapt to what are now necessary changes.

What happened to anon_private is that the old Internet Explorer could not use the built in uploader anymore that was on this website. Now he will have to adjust to a browser that’s quite different then what he is used to and this didn’t need to happen.

We prefer is to use a better browser altogether. It takes minutes to download and a little bit to get used to some changes, but Google Chrome is easily the fastest browser out there right now.

You can use Google Chrome and Internet Explorer at the same time and leave them on your computer. As a matter of fact, you can install as many browsers as you like on your computer without causing any harm. So why not try Google Chrome and see what you think?
