iPad prices drop ahead of new models - possible smaller iPhone

CNN is reporting that on Wednesday, Wal-Mart, Best Buy and MacMall initiated clearance sales on iPad and iPad minis, reducing their 3rd-generation iPad and current iPad mini prices roughly 30% across the board -- a pretty good sign that Apple is about to replace the old models with new ones.

Speculation is that the price drop is in anticipation of new products said to under production now and due in stores this summer meaning Apple might be heading towards a 6 month product release rather than a year. This seems entirely likely as the mini iPhone rumors continue with speculation being that it would be a 4” screen and use different casings and colors to differentiate it. Apple is remaining quiet, as always on what is coming.
