Have you heard? Brad Pitt is dead.
Or so some hackers would want you to believe.
That is the post that is going around Facebook trying to get you to click on the story. The story is a typical malware run by hackers to gain access to personal information.
The article has been going around Facebook ever since Pitt announced that he and estranged wife Angelina Jolie announced their divorce plans.
The article has a picture of Pitt with RIP on it. If it is clicked on, it takes you to a permission page which asks for username and password.
The scam is nothing new. The same tactics have been used before on Facebook. If someone manages to bypass the log in page, they will see this info:
" Brad Pitt, 52, a multi-awarded American actor and husband of Angelina Jolie, 41, shot himself in the head at a shooting range on Sunday. He was under significant stress because the couple were going through a divorce and he had a history of depression."
"This malware isn't new & is known to come from malicious browser extensions. For several years, Facebook has notified people when we detect malware on their computer & we help them clean it up, "a Facebook spokesperson stated.
