This breach is bigger than Home Depot's but smaller than Target and according to JP Morgan no sensitive information was obtained by the hackers - is there still a threat to the nearly 76 million households and 7 million small businesses?
In short the answer is yes. The information which was stolen includes names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses - this is the prefect recipe for telephone, mailing and email phishing scams. It has been urged that JP Morgan customers be vigilant in the coming months (or years) for seemingly suspicious correspondence asking for any type of account or personal information verification. When in doubt - call JP Morgan directly to verify the attempt. Better safe than sorry.

The breach affected anyone who visited the company’s websites, including Chase.com, or used its mobile app, said the person, who requested anonymity because that information wasn’t publicly disclosed. Some of those affected by the incursion are former clients of JPMorgan, which currently has 65 million customers and reaches half of all U.S. households, according to Bloomberg.
JP Morgan has issued the following statement: “There is no evidence that account information for such affected customers -– account numbers, passwords, user IDs, dates of birth or Social Security numbers –- was compromised during this attack.”
