Although Dotcom's lawyers have filed an appeal, a New Zealand judge has ruled that Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom can be extradited to the United States.
As reported by USA Today, Dotcom faces charges in the U.S. of copyright infringement and money laundering. Three of Dotcom’s associates can also be extradited and if found guilty, they all could face years in prison.
Dotcom is alleged to have operated a website that allowed users to illegally download a host of protected multimedia content, including songs, TV shows and movies.
The ruling has propelled Dotcom into sending numerous tweets telling his followers that his actions are not illegal.
