Large scale job cuts for Microsoft

Microsoft is getting the pink slips ready for a number of marketing, engineering, and former Nokia employees that make up Microsoft’s new mobile group, this according to a recent Bloomberg report.
The cuts are likely to be as soon as the beginning of next week coinciding with he company’s July 22, annual sales meeting,
Gigaom notes, Microsoft employed about 100,000 people worldwide before Nokia and some insiders expect cuts could be extensive, perhaps up to 10 percent of total headcount.
The announcement would come one week after Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella issued his first company mission statement, calling for greater emphasis on mobile devices, cloud-computing and productivity software. In the July 10 memo, which also called for Microsoft to become more focused and efficient, Nadella, who took over from Steve Ballmer in February, said he would provide more specifics on implementation later this month.
