'Lefty' arrested for indecent exposure

Police arrested a man for indecent exposure after witnesses reported that he was masturbating while riding a bicycle near a park on the Fourth of July.

Palo Alto 24-hour dispatch center received a 9-1-1 call that an indecent exposure had just occurred near Seale Park in California. The victims reported that they had seen the suspect masturbating while bicycling back and forth in the 3100 block of Stockton Place. The victims, a man and woman in their twenties, were seated in their car about to leave the park when they saw him. They had two children under the age of five in their car with them. The children were not witnesses to the incident. The victims immediately called police and reported what they had seen.

Officers responded to the area, located a man matching the suspect's description riding a bicycle a few blocks away, and detained him without incident. Following their investigation, officers arrested 51-year-old Palo Alto resident Clark Duncan McElfresh for indecent exposure and booked him at the Santa Clara County Main Jail.

The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office has since charged him with one count of misdemeanor indecent exposure.
