During a promotional event in Leon, Mexico, Jagermeister promoters poured liquid nitrogen into a pool to make a cool fog effect, only problem with the fog is that it is highly noxious, and will cause you to faint - which is bad if you are in a pool.
According to a report from the Daily News a total of four bottles of nitrogen were used at the event. One of the events servers, Jael Jimenez, claims she almost died from the stunt. “They realize that I had fainted because they saw the tray floating alone in the pool,” she said. “Otherwise, I might have drowned."
Jimenez was one of several who jumped in the pool and fell ill. Many passed out and slipped under the water.
Video of the party gone wrong show the moment the fun turned to horror. As the noxious cloud spread, revelers can be heard off-camera coughing and hacking. When partygoers outside the pool realize something has gone wrong, several jump in the water to pull out the unconscious victims.
Most victims have been treated and released from the hospital. Jose Ignacio Lopez del Toro, 21, remains in intensive care in a coma, Univision Noticias reported.
It is unknown whether any charges have been filed. An unidentified spokesman for Jagermeister confirmed Wednesday that the incident is under investigation. “We are aware of this incident in Leon, Mexico, which is currently being investigated by our headquarters in Germany,” he said. “Fortunately, all of those who required medical attention are out of danger and recovering.”
