Julius "zeekill" Kivimaki, 17, a Lizard Squad teenager, won't spend any time in the slammer despite admitting to a Finnish court that he compromised 50,700 systems in a long career of computer crime.
According to Finnish newspaper Kaleva, Kivimaki received a two-year suspended prison sentence. He will also have his internet activity monitored for 2 years by the police.
You may recall that it was the Lizard Squad that was responsible for the DDoS attack on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live services in the run-up to Christmas last year. Based on the success of that attack, the Lizard Squad then started a DDoS-for-hire service called Lizardstresser a few days later.
Kivimaki was bold enough as a key player of the attacks to conduct online interviews with Sky News.
The group's attack infrastructure was put together using thousands of hacked home internet routers.
Kivimaki was arrested by Finnish police in late 2014 and was charged with multiple offenses including network security breaches, payment fraud, and harassment.
