Lost internet? Try this

Posted by: Timothy Weaver on 09/09/2014 04:36 PM [ comments Comments ]

I recently lost internet. Kept getting messages that my browser could not find the servers. I called my ISP to no avail. I was on my own.

Fortunately, we have another computer in the house, so that was tried and it connected with no problem. So the problem was on my computer.

I went into the control panel - networking - and tried to connect to my Wi-Fi. Messages were that I could connect but with limited access: ergo, no connection to the web.

Went back into the control panel and opened device manager. Expanded Network adapters and right clicked on both the Wireless Network adapter and the Realtek contoller and uninstalled them.

Rebooted and allowed the computer to re-install both devices.

I then went back into the control panel and opened Network control and tried again to connect to the Wi-Fi adapter.

It connected and I again had internet access.
