The Ocklawaha River in Florida is a recreational hotspot and gives visitors a chance of seeing wild Rhesus monkeys foraging in the shoreline trees, various species of bird, and of course alligators, however this time the monkey business was not on shore, it was on the boat.
Rex Crews, 51, a boat captain brandished a machete after becoming upset for no apparent reason, which made his four passengers feel the 'gator patrolled water of the Ocklawaha River in Florida seem safer than on deck.
Ocala.com reports that the four were picked up by a passing boat and the sheriff's helicopter was able to spot Crews' boat near Moss Bluff. Crews docked the boat and ran into the woods. He was eventually caught by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers and charged with boating under the influence. No surprise with that charge!
Crews was booked into the Marion County Jail, from which he was released Monday morning after posting a $500 bond.
