Keeping up on current events in your community is very important; for instance if you are a thief and decide that you need to rob someone - you might have gotten away with it if you knew that the President of the United States and his massive security detail where in the path of your poorly thought out getaway route. Fail!
Syracuse.com reports that two juveniles attacked a 30-year-old man in the city of Syracuse, punching him in the head and stealing his iPod and headphones, Syracuse police Sgt. Tom Connellan said.
The robbers then made an unwise choice for their get-away route. They ran toward nearby Henninger High School, where President Obama would be speaking in four hours -- and where approximately 150 Syracuse police officers were working the security detail outside, Connellan said.
A description of the robbers went out quickly over the police radio, and officers arrested the two boys at Kinne Street and Teall Avenue -- about three blocks from Henninger, Connellan said.
"Apparently, they had not been watching the news," Connellan said.
