As you probably already know, Majorgeeks has been here to teach people about computers and help them with their problems for free.
Sadly, one of the biggest problems in the past 10 years has been malware. Back in the day it has had many names. Spyware, ransomware, virus, trojan and more and now we just call it all “malware”. The tools have changed because the way and how people get infected continues to change and evolve; round and round we go.
We are proud of the millions of people we have helped just in the malware department alone. If you add up the forums reads and downloads on Majorgeeks so far we are in the tens of millions helped. Today, I noticed that our malware removal guide, originally written by me in 2004 and taken over by Chaslang in the Support Forums is about to surpass 5 million reads!
Most modern removal tools like Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, IObit Malware Fighter and SUPERAntiSpyware Free can often remove most known infections without any issues, although booting into safe mode (restart, tap f8 as it boots) often works best as it disables most processes and drivers that can be locked by an infection.
Sometimes it just isn’t that easy and that’s where the step by step, time consuming process begins for people who need to retrieve their data. So if you ever need us, try one of the programs mentioned above or stop in the forums to ask for help if you need it.
There are no stupid questions.
