Majorgeeks updates website to new CMS and design – didn’t break EVERYTHING

You may or may not have noticed that we now have a new backend, also called a CMS (Content Management System) in place. Our former CMS was in existence when we first started Majorgeeks and we got a "long" 13 years out of it. 13 years is not really a long time, but in the tech time it is a lifetime. For example, in 2001 when Majorgeeks launched with our older CMS:
- The FCC approved the AOL Time Warner merger
- Wikipedia launched
- The first Apple retail stores were opened in California
- Windows XP was launched
- The Government decided not to break up Microsoft, instead going for antitrust penalties
- The iPod was introduced
It’s been a great ride so far.
Our new CMS allows us to handle anything we post with much more content. Disqus comments have also been added so we hope to hear from you in both downloads and news stories!
You will now see multiple screenshots, changelogs when available and just too much to list here. We can also write better news stories and articles and we have more new content planned for the site.
We believe we managed to do this while retaining the same bad HTML code and ugly design you have grown accustomed to since 2001. Some things should never change.
We are currently aware of many issues, as expected from such a site wide change. Please bear with us as we work all week to find, isolate and fix known issues, bugs and things we might have forgotten. One of the biggest issues is the search not working and we are on it. You can use Google search at the top right of the page for now.
Thanks for your support!
For fellow geeks wondering what we use, it is a heavily customized version of Contenteller which is an excellent CMS we have relied on since Majorgeeks was founded. This is the updated version that has been the works for longer than you want to know
