A Mall Santa in Hingham, MA., has been reined in by a judge after allegations arose that he had groped an 18 year old woman employed as an elf at a local mall.
According to the Boston Herald, the woman told cops that the 62-year-old, 275-pound mall Santa had said to her in the past: “I wish you were a few years older and I was younger.”
Herbert Jones allegedly put his paws on her behind, and the woman reported it to her manager. The manager then told her Jones wanted to see her, police say.
When the reluctant woman approached Jones, he began yelling at her, saying he “would have never done something like that,” according to the report.
The woman quit the elf job on the spot.
After he was transported to the police station, Jones told police during questioning that it was all a misunderstanding and that his statement to the woman had been taken out of context; he also explained that he had not touched the woman, she had only "brushed up against him" and he had quickly moved his hand away.
Jones was released with the condition from a Hingham District Court judge that he not work as Santa this season.
Police continue to investigate the incident.
