A Phoenix man, Meetkumar Hiteshbhai Desai,18, was nabbed by police the day after he launched a cyber-attack that forced users to make nearly 300 calls to emergency services and hang up.
Desai is being charged with four counts of computer tampering. He created a malware which he posted on Twitter that, when clicked on, forced users to call 911 services, according to the Arizona Republic.
His excuse was that he was hoping for a bug bounty from Apple and he only wanted to prank the police. The malware he created modified the coding to add pop-ups, prompts to open email applications, and activate automatic telephone dialing on iOS devices.
Desai was arrested Oct. 27th, after his prank caused the interruption of emergency services for three days.
