A Venice, FL., man was arrested after crashing into the back of an unmarked sheriff's office patrol car; the man was extremely drunk, blowing a .353 and .365, more than four times the legal limit.
MySunCoast reports that the boozy driver, identified as 26-year-old John Tauber crashed his car into the back of a patrol vehicle on Center Road in Venice near Rockley Boulevard, then tried to leave the scene.
According to a report, a responding deputy arrived and questioned Tauber, who reportedly smelled of alcohol and nearly fell over into traffic. He claimed the crash was just a fender bender and there was no reason to stop.
Tauber claimed he hadn’t been drinking and refused to perform standard field sobriety tests, telling the deputy to "F*** off." The report states that "the driver stated he has a lot of money and I need to shut the **** up."
He has been charged with DUI with Breath Alcohol Content above .15, DUI with Property Damage and Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Property Damage.
The deputy in the car was uninjured. No word if the deputy followed the recommendation Tauber gave him.
