This has to be cosmic irony at work - a man in Santa Barbara county, CA., was swept out to sea during a beach ceremony in which he was helping the pastor baptize his cousin. While performing the baptism several large waves hit and managed to pull 3 people out to sea; including the man being baptized, he and another person managed to swim back to shore.
According to the Santa Maria Times, a 43-year-old man who was reportedly swept out to sea at the Rancho Guadalupe Dunes Preserve during a baptism ceremony this morning, had not been located as of 6 p.m., according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
The man was swept out with two other people just before 10 a.m., according to Mauro Cervantes, the pastor of the Santa Maria church Jesus Christ Light of the Sky.
Two people were able to make it back to shore on their own. Authorities still have not located the 43 year old at this time.
