Microsoft 10 Executive Vice President Terry Myerson has posted clarification as to the concerns people have expressed regarding Windows privacy.
What Myerson wants people to understand is that the data is encrypted and contains no personal data such as personal identifiers, content or files.
In a blog posted by Myerson, he states that there are three levels of data collection which does and doesn't include “safety and reliability data”, “personalization data” and “advertising data we don't collect.”
According to the post, the safety and reliability data has already been used to correct a flaw that caused some PCs to crash and reboot.
Personalization data is used for recommending apps, text completion suggestions, and other things the user may like.
Myerson made it clear that as to ads, Microsoft does not scan emails or personal messages to deliver targeting advertising.
